The database orcl on both the source and target server should be started and available. They are needed by the dbvrep setup wizard.

To check is if the database is running run the following command (on both source and target)

$ ps -ef | grep pmon
oracle    2467     1  0 13:31 ?        00:00:00 ora_pmon_orcl
oracle    2974  2933  0 13:35 pts/1    00:00:00 grep pmon

If the ora_pmon_orcl process is running, that is a good indication that the Oracle database is running.
