This section will cover the supported Operating Systems and supported Cloud deployment configurations for Dbvisit StandbyMP product.
Info |
---|
We strongly recommend to have same version of operating system on primary and standby server. |
Info |
---|
When deploying Dbvcontrol component on separate server, its Operating system can be completely different from primary and standby database server, but still needs to match Supported Operating System from the list below. |
1. Supported Operating Systems List
Following table lists all supported Operating Systems for installation of Dbvisit StandbyMP:
Supported Linux Platform Distributions | Supported Windows Platform Versions (64-bit) |
---|---|
|
|
In addition to the above, following Linux distributions are supported for installation of Dbvisit StandbyMP for Postgres database platform ONLY:
Supported Linux Platform Distributions (Postgres Database platform only) |
---|
|
2. Supported combinations of Operating Systems and Database versions
Even if your operating system is supported for installation of Dbvisit StandbyMP, you always need to consider specific database version and platform you will be using.
Dbvisit StandbyMP does support only database vendor certified operating system and database version combinations. For example, Oracle database 11g is not certified for Oracle Linux 8, hence Dbvisit StandbyMP will not support such combination either.
Note |
---|
You must make sure your Operating System version and Database software version are certified by the database vendor. This includes both: Primary and Standby server. |
Oracle certified combinations can be found on MOS:
SQL Server certified combinations:
Postgres certified combinations:
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/supported-platforms.html
In addition, Dbvisit StandbyMP Postgres support for Windows platform is limited for following combinations only:
PostgreSQL Version | Supported Windows Platform Versions (64-bit) |
---|---|
16 | 2022, 2019 |
15 | 2019, 2016 |
14 | 2019, 2016 |
13 | 2019, 2016 |
12 | 2019, 2016, 2012 R2 |
11 | 2019, 2016, 2012 R2 |
10 | 2016, 2012 R2 & R1 |
3. Support for heterogenous and cross platform deployments
Dbvisit StandbyMP does not support cross-platform replication (Windows=>Linux). The only exception is SQL Server, where cross platform is supported.
Dbvisit StandbyMP supports deployments where primary and standby operating system versions are different. This is useful for migration use cases. For example if primary server is OEL6 and standby server is OEL8, Dbvisit StandbyMP can be deployed to such environment. The operating system and database version must still be certified by database software vendor.
4. Support for Cloud deployments
Below is support Matrix for deploying Dbvisit StandbyMP product on Cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments. Dbvisit StandbyMP always requires underlying operating system, which is the reason why AWS RDS and OCI Autonomous Databases are not supported.
