To create a standby database from the command line you need to run the “dbvisit_setup” command. From the menu, select option 7. Once you have selected this option, follow the onscreen prompts and provide the information requested.

You can now follow the on-screen instructions to create the standby database. During this process the following will be performed:
You will review database parameters and be allowed to change them
You can specify where to store you database files on the standby (ASM or non ASM)
A pre-flight check will be performed to make sure the standby server is ready for a standby database to be created.
Once complete, you will have a standby database up and running on your specified standby server
