A 30 day trial version of Dbvisit Replicate can be downloaded from the Dbvisit website. This is a full feature evaluation version. Note that this version can only be used for evaluation purposes.

 

1. Go to the Dbvisit download page for Dbvisit Replicate: http://www.dbvisit.com/products/downloads/#replicate

 

2. Click on Download Free Trial

 

 

3. Fill in your personal details

 

4. The email link for the download will be sent to the email provided. Click on the email link to bring you to the download page

 

5. Right click the Linux 32bit RPM and select to copy the URL

 

6. Go to the source server (dbv01) and cd into the software directory

[oracle@source ~]$ cd ~oracle/software
[oracle@source software]$

 

7. Use wget to download Dbvisit Replicate from the software directory. In this example Dbvisit Replicate 2.6.00 is used, but always use the latest download available from the dbvisit.com website

[oracle@source software]$ wget http://xxxxxx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxx/dbvisit_replicate-2.6.00-1.i386.rpm

8. Su to root and install the rpm

su - 

Password is oracle

[root@source ~]# rpm -ivh /home/oracle/software/dbvisit_replicate-2.6.00-1.i386.rpm

   1:dbvisit_replicate      ########################################### [100%]

 

9. Exit to user oracle, and test that the dbvrep executable works

# exit
[oracle@source software]$ dbvrep version
Initializing......done
Dbvisit Replicate version 2.6.00.3735
Copyright (C) Dbvisit Software Limited.  All rights reserved.
No DDC file loaded.
Dbvisit Replicate version 2.6.00.3735.
OK-0: Completed successfully.

The first time dbvrep starts, it takes longer than usual because it extracts files to /tmp/par-oracle. Subsequent times dbvrep is started will be much faster

 

10. Go to the target server (dbv02) and cd into the software directory

[oracle@target ~]$ cd ~oracle/software
[oracle@target software]$

 

11. Use wget to download Dbvisit Replicate from the software directory. In this example Dbvisit Replicate 2.6.00 is used, but always use the latest download available from the dbvisit.com website

[oracle@target software]$ wget http://xxxxxx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxx/dbvisit_replicate-2.6.00-1.i386.rpm

12. Su to root and install the rpm

su -

[root@target ~]# rpm -ivh /home/oracle/software/dbvisit_replicate-2.6.00-1.i386.rpm

13. Exit to user oracle, and test the the dbvrep executable works
