Creating a Standby Database (CSD)

This section will cover the steps required to create a standby database. But before you can create a standby database you would first need to make sure you have created the DDC file for the environment. Every Primary/Standby combination requires a separate DDC file.

Creating a Standby Database can be performed from the Command Line Interface (CLI) or the Web-Based interface (GUI). In this section both will be discussed.

Before running the CSD process, please make sure there are no old or foreign files in the Standby server FRA (Flash/Fast recovery area) location for the standby database you want to create.

If the new standby database has FRA enabled, please remove all files from FRA/<unique_db_name> folder on the standby server, prior to creating the database. This is to avoid resetting the standby database incarnation triggered by the presence of old database files in FRA.
