Dbvisit Replicate 2.9.02

This past week we came out with our first patch of Dbvisit Replicate 2.9. A patch usually doesn’t result in a major announcement, but this one is unique and worth mentioning for two important reasons: Dbvisit Replicate 2.9.02 supports the Oracle 12.2 database and Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). While we try not to introduce enhancements into patches, this is an occasion where the team thought it was necessary.

The first enhancement that we have for Dbvisit Replicate 2.9.02 is the support of the Oracle 12.2 database. This release supports Oracle 12.2 as both the source and the target database. While Oracle released the Oracle 12.2 database in March 2017, we didn’t have enough time to put it through the QA paces to include this feature in the Dbvisit Replicate 2.9 release. We know that customers were looking forward to the Oracle 12.2 database release so we worked hard to make sure that we supported it as soon as possible.

The second change that is included is something that customers have been eagerly waiting for. With this patch, Dbvisit Replicate now supports Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). By supporting Oracle TDE, we have removed a limitation for some customers as well as making a step forward for our product. Supporting Oracle TDE is also really important as more and more Oracle customers are making use of this feature. We thought it was time for Dbvisit to join in on this feature too.

Oracle TDE is also turned on by default in the Oracle Cloud. Additionally, with GDPR coming soon to Europe I am willing to bet that more Oracle customers will be looking into Oracle TDE.

In summary, the Dbvisit Replicate 2.9.02 patch has two major features as the highlights alongside bug fixes and extra testing resulting in improvements as well. Overall, this is an exciting patch for us to release! Please reach out if you have any questions.
