Profiler usage as described below is Obsolete in 2.9.04 on-wards Profiler is replaced by automatic statistics which are dumped to MINE and APPLY log file regularly. There is no need to setup or enable profiler anymore. Commands which can be used to dump statistics on-demand to process log file: dbvrep> dump apply profiler dbvrep> dump mine profiler dbvrep> dump mine memory_accounting dbvrep> dump apply memory_accounting |
Dbvisit Replicate can collect profiling or performance statistics information which will assist Dbvisit support to diagnose performance issues.

- Shutdown the APPLY process
- Edit the *-APPLY.ddc DDC file.
Add the following line to the DDC file (give full path name):
No Format memory_set PROFILER /home/oracle/..../prof_%S.%E
- Restart the APPLY process
- Wait for a few PLOG switches.
- Zip and upload the resulting file to Dbvisit Support. The profiler files will be in the location specified by the full path given (/home/oracle/..../prof_%S.%E)
Turn off the profiling with by removing the profiler command OR adding a comment in front of the line in the DDC file:
No Format # memory_set PROFILER /home/oracle/..../prof_%S.%E
Stop and restart the APPLY process

FETCHER (without having to stop the FETCHER process)

- Shutdown the FETCHER process
- Edit the *-FETCHER.ddc DDC file.
Add the following line to the DDC file (give full path name):
No Format memory_set PROFILER /home/oracle/..../prof_%S.%E
- Restart the FETCHER process
- Wait for a few PLOG switches.
- Zip and upload the resulting files to Dbvisit Support. The profiler files will be in the location specified by the full path given (/home/oracle/..../prof_%S.%E)

In some cases, sub profiling can also be enabled to obtain finer grained profiling information. Please check with Dbvisit support before enabling this.
