1. Introduction

Dbvisit Standby Multiplatform v11.7.0 provides an option to manage Dbvisit transaction log backups under the Dbvisit Custom backup locations. By default it is disabled. The value must be an integer not less than 0. Zero means delete immediately.

2. Steps to enable log retention

  1. Choose the SQL server configuration on the Dashboard. Click on the Log backup retention

  1. Choose Yes to enable both Primary and Standby servers. Select the number of hours to retain the log. Logs older than the chosen hour are deleted automatically. Please ensure the backup location has sufficient space to hold backup for the set hours.

3. Multiple Standby databases for the same Primary

For Multiple standby for the same primary, you must set the same settings on each configuration. If not the logs would be missing for other configurations.

  1. Choose the second standby configuration from the Dashboard

  1. Enable the log retention and choose the same parameter setting as the 1st configuration.

  1. Save and close

  1. Make sure the Custom backup location of the primary is set the same for both configurations

  1. By default, it is set to Dbvisit_base\standbymp\backup location.
