External backup software requirements

Backup software must still be used to backup the database and the archive log files generated.The backup software may have special requirements when backing up the archive log files which may affect the way Dbvisit Standby is configured. The following table gives an overview of these requirements including how Dbvisit Standby may be configured to assist with these requirements:

Dbvisit Standby will not conflict with any backup software. Dbvisit Standby always ensures the archive log file is not in use before processing the file.Â
